How to Run ChatGPT Ads in HubSpot (and What the Native Integration Leaves Out)

HubSpot shipped a native ChatGPT Ads integration in beta on July 13, 2026. Here is what it does, the targeting field its campaign builder does not ask for, and how to get there from the Google Ads you already run.

  • HubSpot began rolling out a native ChatGPT Ads integration in beta the week of July 13, 2026. You connect an OpenAI Ads API key, build campaigns, and report on them beside Google, LinkedIn, and Meta.
  • The published walkthrough of the native builder lists four creative fields: title, body copy, image, destination URL. It does not mention context hints, which are what decide when your ad can enter a conversation. Confirm that field exists in your own portal before you launch.
  • It also assumes you already hold a ChatGPT Ads account and are ready to write new creative. There is no path from the Google Ads campaigns you already run.
  • Native attribution works by appending UTM parameters. That is campaign level. Matching an individual ad click to a single contact and deal needs the click id, not a UTM.
  • Use the native integration if you already have Marketing Hub and ChatGPT Ads access. The gaps above are where a dedicated tool still earns its place.

For most of 2026, running ChatGPT Ads meant leaving your CRM. You built campaigns in OpenAI's Ads Manager, then did the work of tying spend back to pipeline somewhere else. That changed the week of July 13, 2026, when HubSpot began rolling out a native ChatGPT Ads integration in beta, putting the channel next to Google, LinkedIn, and Meta inside the Ads tool.

It is a genuine release and it covers more than reporting. You can connect an account, build campaigns, publish them, and see them in the same Manage and Analyze tabs as everything else. If you already pay for Marketing Hub and already have ChatGPT Ads access, it is very likely the right place to start.

This guide covers what the native integration does, the one field its campaign builder does not ask for, and what to do if you are coming to ChatGPT Ads from the Google Ads you already run.

What HubSpot's native ChatGPT Ads integration does

HubSpot treats ChatGPT Ads as a connected ad network, the same pattern it uses for Google Ads and LinkedIn. Five capabilities ship with it.

Connect an account. Under Settings, then Marketing, then Ads, click Connect account and choose ChatGPT from the network list. You paste in an API key from your OpenAI Ads dashboard, HubSpot validates it, and the connected account appears.

Create and publish campaigns. Under Marketing, then Ads, click Create ad campaign and select the ChatGPT ad type. You supply a title, body copy, an image, and a destination URL, then click Publish.

Report at every level. Campaigns appear in the Manage and Analyze tabs beside your other ad networks, with campaign, ad group, and ad level reporting in the same places you already look.

Attribute clicks to deals. Enabling auto-tracking has HubSpot append UTM parameters to your ChatGPT ad URLs, which surfaces which contacts clicked, how many deals resulted, and total ROI.

Trigger workflows. Contacts who interact with your ChatGPT ads can be enrolled in HubSpot workflows automatically, so follow-up fires off ad engagement. This one has no third party equivalent worth pretending about. If workflow automation off ad engagement is what you need, native is the answer.

Because the integration is in beta, the option may not appear in your portal until you request access.

The field to check for before you launch

Look at what the published walkthrough says the native builder collects: a title of 3 to 50 characters, body copy of up to 100 characters, an image, and a destination URL. Those are four creative fields. They describe what your ad says and looks like.

None of them describes when your ad is allowed to appear.

Four creative fields are described. Context hints are not mentioned, which is not the same as confirming they are absent. Check your own portal.

Body copyUp to 100 charactersYesThe supporting line

Destination URLYour landing pageYesWhere the click goes
Context hintsShort phrasesNot mentionedDecides WHEN the ad can appear

On ChatGPT Ads, that job belongs to context hints. They are short phrases that tell the platform which conversations your ad is eligible to enter. They are the closest thing the channel has to keywords, and they are the single biggest lever on whether your budget reaches people with the problem you solve or people idly adjacent to it.

A campaign with great creative and no context hints is a well written ad with no idea who it is for.

This matters more on ChatGPT Ads than the equivalent would on a traditional network. ChatGPT does not match on who someone is in the way a demographic audience does. It matches on what they are actively asking about. Hand the platform no signal about which questions you want to show up for and you are relying entirely on its inference from your creative.

Be careful about what that walkthrough does and does not prove. It describes the flow rather than auditing every field, so context hints going unmentioned is not the same as their being absent. The integration is also a gated beta, undocumented in HubSpot's public knowledge base at the time of writing, so there is no authoritative field list to check it against.

Which makes this the one thing worth doing before you spend anything: open the ChatGPT campaign builder in your own portal and look for a context hints field. If it is there, fill it in properly, and treat this section as a reminder that it is the most important input on the screen. If it is not, that is the gap to plan around, and the next section is about the tooling that covers it.

Starting from the Google Ads you already run

The second gap is quieter but affects more people. HubSpot's connection flow begins by asking for an API key from your OpenAI Ads dashboard. That is a reasonable place to start if you have a ChatGPT Ads account. If you do not, there is nothing to connect and nothing to build from.

Most B2B marketers reading this are in the second group. They have years of Google Ads history, with campaigns whose keywords, copy, and negative lists encode real knowledge of what their buyers search for, and no ChatGPT Ads presence at all. The native builder cannot help with that, because it starts from an empty creative form.

This is where converting a Google Ads campaign is the better first step. A converter reads a Search campaign you already run and rewrites it for a conversational surface: the ad copy is adapted for the way an answer reads, and the keywords become proposed context hints, each one traceable to the keyword it came from.

That last part solves the blank box problem directly. Instead of inventing hints from scratch, you start from phrases your own account has already proven people search for, then edit from there.

One thing to look for in any converter: whether it tells you when not to convert. Not every Google Ads campaign belongs on ChatGPT Ads. Phrase-driven campaigns, trademark-heavy campaigns, and broad generic campaigns translate badly to a surface that matches on what someone is actively asking about. Specific, high-intent campaigns translate well. A converter that scores every campaign as a great candidate is not assessing anything.

Start from the Google Ads campaigns you already run

The AI-Advisors app for HubSpot turns a Google Ads Search campaign into a launch-ready ChatGPT Ads draft, and proposes context hints from the keywords that campaign already bids on. Hints stay an editable field afterwards, on the campaign and on every ad group. Converting is free, needs no credit card, and needs no ChatGPT Ads account to try.

UTM tracking versus the click id

HubSpot's native attribution works through auto-tracking, which appends UTM parameters to your ChatGPT ad URLs. It is a sound approach and it is genuinely useful: you get contacts who clicked, deals that resulted, and a total ROI figure without configuring anything.

It is worth understanding what resolution that gives you. A UTM parameter identifies a campaign, a source, and a medium. Two people clicking two different ads in the same campaign carry identical UTM values, so the attribution resolves to the campaign, not to the click.

ChatGPT Ads also puts a click id on the landing URL, unique to the individual click. If that value survives into a contact's first-touch URL, you can match one specific ad click to one specific contact and, through their associations, one specific deal. That is a different claim from campaign level reporting: not this campaign produced fourteen deals, but this ad produced this deal.

Which you need depends on the conversation you are having. For weekly channel reporting, campaign level is fine. For defending a budget line to a CFO who wants to see the specific deals, click level is the one that survives scrutiny. We covered the wider measurement picture in measuring ROI for ChatGPT Ads.

One practical note either way: if you run auto-tracking alongside your own UTM conventions, decide which owns the tagging before you launch, or you will spend a quarter reconciling two sets of numbers for the same clicks. Our UTM conventions for ChatGPT Ads covers the tagging scheme we recommend.

Which one to use

There is no single answer, and anyone selling you one is selling you something. The honest version depends on what you already pay for and where you are starting from.

Which one to reach for
Several of these rows point at HubSpot's own feature. That is the honest answer for those cases.
If this is youReach forWhy
You already pay for Marketing Hub and have ChatGPT Ads accessHubSpot nativeIt is included, it sits beside your other networks, and workflow enrollment is built in
You run Google Ads and have never launched a ChatGPT adA converterThe native builder starts from a blank creative form, not from campaigns you already run
You want control over when your ad enters a conversationA tool with a context hints fieldConfirm the native builder has one; the published walkthrough does not mention it
You are on the free CRM or Sales Hub onlyA tool that runs on any tierHubSpot's Ads tool lives under Marketing Hub
You need one ad click tied to one contact and one dealClick id matchingUTM auto-tracking resolves to the campaign, not the click
You want reporting across ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, and PerplexityA dedicated AI visibility toolAn ad network connection covers paid placement only

Read that table plainly: if you have Marketing Hub and ChatGPT Ads access, HubSpot's native integration is included, sits beside your other channels, and does something no third party app can do, which is enroll contacts in workflows off ad engagement. Use it.

The rows where something else wins are the specific ones. Coming from Google Ads with no ChatGPT Ads account. Wanting control over which conversations you enter. Running on the free CRM. Needing click level proof rather than campaign level reporting. Those are real situations, and they are not edge cases in B2B.

Where the AI-Advisors app fits

We build a ChatGPT Ads app for HubSpot, so treat this section as what it is. Here is what it does that the native integration does not, stated plainly enough that you can check it.

The free tier converts a Google Ads Search campaign into a launch-ready ChatGPT Ads draft and proposes context hints from the keywords that campaign already bids on, each hint showing the keyword it came from. It reads Google Ads and never changes it. No credit card, and no ChatGPT Ads account needed to try it, up to 25 conversions every 30 days.

It scores the campaign before it sells you on it. Every conversion comes back with a convertibility read and a verdict of recommended, borderline, or not yet, plus a sentence or two saying why. Campaigns that lean on phrase matching, trademark terms, or generic reach score low, because those translate badly to a surface that matches on what someone is asking. Any warnings the conversion raised are called out separately rather than mixed in with the ad copy, so a caveat does not read like another headline.

Under the draft, the numbers are not guesswork. Budget, bidding, geography, and cost-per-click are mapped across deterministically from your Google Ads settings. Only the parts that genuinely need judgment, the ad copy and the context hints, are generated, and the hints follow the same five hint patterns we documented separately.

Context hints are a real field throughout, not just a converter output. You enter them when you create a campaign, you set them when you add an ad group, and you edit them on any existing ad group afterwards. Editing one ad group's bid never rewords its hints, because the hints round-trip as text rather than being regenerated. The suggestion step is a starting point, not the only way in: if you would rather write your own hints, the field is there and always editable.

The paid tier, at five dollars a month after a fourteen day trial, runs the campaigns from a table inside HubSpot: per-row on and off switches, spend, clicks, impressions, and cost per click over the window you pick, with campaign drill-down to ad groups and ads. Everything is created paused, so nothing spends until you switch it on. Rejected ads are called out rather than left to fail silently, which matters because a rejected ad stops serving while the campaign keeps spending on its survivors.

On a Growth plan, the same screen carries the funnel through to contacts, deals, and closed-won revenue, matched by click id rather than UTM, with an always-visible note stating how many contacts matched exactly.

Two things to know before you try it. The app is not in the HubSpot App Marketplace yet, so HubSpot shows an unverified-app warning during install and asks you to confirm before continuing. That is HubSpot's standard screen for any app installed outside the marketplace. And the CRM revenue side reads your contacts and deals, so it is part of a Growth plan rather than the five dollar tier. The setup guide walks through what each permission is used for.

What to do this week

If you have Marketing Hub and ChatGPT Ads access, request beta access and connect the native integration. Build one campaign, turn on auto-tracking, and see what the reporting gives you before you add anything else.

If you have Google Ads and no ChatGPT Ads presence, do not start with a blank campaign builder. Convert your best performing Search campaign, review the proposed context hints against what you know about your buyers, and launch that instead. You will get a better first campaign and you will learn the channel from something familiar.

Either way, check the campaign builder in your own portal for a context hints field before you launch. It is the difference between choosing which conversations you enter and letting the platform guess. If the field is there, fill it in properly. If it is not, that is the gap to plan around. We could not confirm it either way from outside a portal with beta access, which is exactly why it is worth thirty seconds of your own checking.

Frequently Asked Questions

#Does HubSpot support ChatGPT Ads natively?

Yes. HubSpot began rolling out a native ChatGPT Ads integration in beta the week of July 13, 2026. It appears as an ad network alongside Google, LinkedIn, and Meta. You connect it under Settings, then Marketing, then Ads, by selecting ChatGPT and pasting an API key from your OpenAI Ads dashboard. Because it is a beta, HubSpot customers may need to request access before the option appears.

#How do you create a ChatGPT ad campaign in HubSpot?

Go to Marketing, then Ads, and click Create ad campaign, then select the ChatGPT ad type. The builder asks for a title of 3 to 50 characters, body copy of up to 100 characters, an image, and a destination URL. Clicking Publish sends the campaign live. Campaigns then appear in the Manage and Analyze tabs with campaign, ad group, and ad level reporting, the same places your other ad networks report.

#Does HubSpot's ChatGPT Ads builder support context hints?

The published walkthrough of the builder lists a title, body copy, an image, and a destination URL, and does not mention context hints. That is not the same as confirming they are absent: the walkthrough describes the flow rather than auditing every field, and the integration is a gated beta that HubSpot has not documented publicly. Check your own portal before launching, because context hints are the mechanism ChatGPT Ads uses to decide which conversations an ad is eligible for, and a campaign without them has far less control over when it appears. The AI-Advisors app for HubSpot exposes them as an editable field at campaign creation, when adding an ad group, and on any existing ad group.

#Do I need a ChatGPT Ads account to use HubSpot's integration?

Yes. The native connection asks you to paste an API key from your OpenAI Ads dashboard, which means you need an existing ChatGPT Ads account before you can connect anything. If you do not have one, a Google Ads to ChatGPT Ads converter is the more useful starting point, because it builds a launch ready campaign from advertising you already run and does not require ChatGPT Ads access to try.

#How does HubSpot attribute revenue from ChatGPT Ads?

HubSpot uses auto-tracking, which appends UTM parameters to your ChatGPT ad URLs. That lets you see which contacts clicked your ChatGPT ads, how many deals came from those clicks, and total ROI. UTM parameters identify the campaign rather than the individual click, so the resolution is campaign level. Matching one specific ad click to one contact and one deal requires the click id that ChatGPT Ads puts on the landing URL.

#Which HubSpot plan do I need to run ChatGPT Ads?

HubSpot's Ads tool lives under Marketing Hub, so the native ChatGPT Ads connection follows Marketing Hub's tiers rather than being available on the free CRM. Confirm the exact tier requirement inside your own portal, since beta availability can differ from the general Ads tool. Third party apps that surface in the CRM through app cards can render on any HubSpot tier, including the free CRM.

#Can I convert my Google Ads campaigns into ChatGPT Ads?

Not through HubSpot's native builder, which starts from an empty creative form. A converter reads a Google Ads Search campaign and rewrites it for a conversational surface, adapting the ad copy and turning the keywords into context hints. The AI-Advisors app for HubSpot does this from inside HubSpot, reads Google Ads without changing it, and is free to use up to 25 conversions every 30 days. It also returns a convertibility verdict of recommended, borderline, or not yet, so you find out before launching whether the campaign suits the channel at all.
